Switch to BillingEase

Move in an evening. Start from your next invoice.

Coming from a spreadsheet, a box of receipts or another bookkeeping tool? There’s no automatic import yet, so here’s the honest version: add your customers and prices in a few minutes, start from your next invoice, and enter opening balances with your accountant. Your old records stay where they are.

Where are you coming from?

Pick where your books live today. We’ll show you what comes across, what stays where it is, and how long it takes.

What comes across from a spreadsheet

You type them in once. Most people have a few dozen customers and prices.
  • CustomersName, email and address, typed in once. Add the ones you still bill; the rest can wait.
  • PricesWhat you sell and what you charge, saved for every invoice.
  • Unpaid invoicesAdd the ones still owed to you, so Coming in and your reminders are right from day one.
  • Every-month costsRent, phone and software set up once.
  • Import customers from a CSV filePlannedPlanned. Not in BillingEase yet.

Last year’s rows stay in your spreadsheet. Keep it: HMRC expects you to keep records for at least 5 years after the 31 January deadline.

How long it takesAbout an hourFor a sole trader with a couple of dozen customers. Start at the beginning of a quarter if you can.
  1. 12 minPick your start dateThe start of the current MTD quarter is easiest. Everything from then on goes into BillingEase.
  2. 230 to 45 minAdd who and whatCustomers you still bill, your prices, your suppliers and every-month costs.
  3. 315 minOpen balances with your accountantUnpaid invoices, bills you owe and money in the bank on your start date. Your accountant can enter these for you.

What changes, in plain words.

Same books, friendlier names. The proper accounting terms are still there, one click down, for you and your accountant.

Illustrative example, not a real customer

Not yet. There’s no automatic import or migration from spreadsheets or other tools today. You add your customers, prices and unpaid invoices by hand, which takes most sole traders about an hour. Importing customers and expenses from a CSV file is planned.
